It may be easier to add a circuit to your existing set up as long as you have capacity in your consumer unit and the neccesary requirements are met to comply with BS7671

Altering existing circuits is the most cost effective way of installing whatever you want to the circuit but will still need to comply the the latest version of BS7671

Sometimes the best course of action is to install a new consumer unit, it may be that there is no capacity for a new circuit to be installed in an existing consumer unit or the new consumer unit is supplying alternative circuits such as exterior lighting.
